	The Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (formerly the Imperial Porcelain Factory) was founded by the order of Peter I daughter Elizabeth I in 1744. The first samples of Russian porcelain articles were produced in this factory. The factory’s ties to the Russian Royal Family implied very high requirements for porcelain, positioning it as an important art form. In 1925, when the nation celebrated a bicentennial of its Academy of Sciences, the factory was named after Mikhail V. Lomonosov - the first Russian academic scientist. Cobalt-net porcelain is still considered to be an evocation of style and luxury. Contemporary artists follow ancient traditions in decorating dishes (the hand-painted cobalt design can be seen only after heating). Incredibly thin, almost transparent bone china, will make exquisite decorations for your dining-room. The porcelain of the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory is exhibited in the largest Russian and foreign museums all over the world, such as the Hermitage, the Russian Museum in Saint-Petersburg, the State Museum of History in Moscow, the Victor and Albert’s Museum in London, Metropolitan Museum in New York and others.
